One of the reasons for the mega success of TikTok is that it has created a new frontier of relatability for social media. If we thought people were oversharing online in the before times, we’re playing a whole different and overly candid game now. Gen Z has made a name for themselves in being unafraid to go Too Far and then tiptoe a little further, and the clock app has been a big promoter of that.

There are plenty of people out there willing to decry this as something bad, so it makes sense to counter that with examples of the sheer entertainment value that it brings us. It might be a guilty pleasure, but it’s also a very fun one. Plus, some of the enjoyment we get from these silly screenshots is that they can be relatable. Like it or not, there’s a bit of the TikToker sentiment in all of us.
