Having guests stay at your house can be a blessing and a curse. You probably feel good being useful to those who need a place to stay, and maybe you’ll cash in on that favor when you want to stay in their neck of the woods. Maybe you like the idea of getting a guestroom together, buying all those little soaps from HomeGoods, and making sure they have what they need.
But having people stay at your house can also interrupt your routine in crucial ways. You’re not used to having them in your space, so you have to adjust your morning routine accordingly. Maybe you’re used to waking up slowly and not having to say a word before you have had your first cup of coffee. But Cheryl and Todd are here, and they need directions to the Metropolitan Museum of Art before you’ve had your first sip. It’s a double-edged sword, especially when you have kids.
