‘This is a crime’: Woman alters vintage designer dress, angers masses on Twitter

They say that what goes around comes back around, so it follows that the girls are flocking to their grandmother’s closets for inspiration. I’m a huge believer in vintage fashion— it’s a fun way to find something unique that almost nobody else will have and find new avenues for expressing your style. It’s also a nice way to connect with the past, to carry a piece of history with you wherever you go. I wish every vintage garment would come with a little story about its original purchaser– who they were, when they bought it, and what memories they made while wearing it. It would be fun to know what baggage comes with your new (to you) blouse.

It’s no wonder, then, that people get precious about vintage. There are hordes of vintage purists and defenders out there, and they recently descended on a woman who decided to update her secondhand dress. Who knew there could be this much discourse about an LBD?
