‘This is called a task-based interview’: Industrious woman invites first date over to help her weed her garden, date is hesitant

In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, «First dates are like job interviews with cocktails.» They’re usually stilted, awkward, and usually just a volley back and forth of questions and answers. «What do you do for work? Do you like it? Where did you grow up? Do you have any siblings?» Back and forth until you’re both bored and tired and probably want to go home

But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if you could bond over an activity and take it from there? It gives you something to do with your hands, it solves the problem of awkward silences, and it gives you something to talk about. Perhaps we need to get more creative with our dates. One ingenious woman found a perfect way to do this, but commenters were torn. Is it free labor or is it a perfectly wholesome first date activity? Read on and see for yourself.
