This Offensively Unfunny Adrien Brody Bit Got Him Banned From SNL

It’s easy to roll one’s eyes at clueless people like Chet Hanks when they attempt patois. Dumb people are pretty great at being culturally insensitive. But sometimes, like when Adele wore that cringey carnival outfit, stars surprise us with their absolute idiocy. Today’s offender is Adrien Brody. The critically acclaimed actor, best known for his work in the bleak Holocaust film The Pianist, is under fire after @snlhostsintro shared a clip from his 2003 appearance on Saturday Night Live

The musical guest that evening was Sean Paul, a Jamaican rapper – and instead of sticking to his script, Brody decided to improvise. Dressed in a dreadlock wig, the actor spent the longest 40 seconds of all time speaking in an incredibly exaggerated Jamaican accent. He even used some seriously homophobic phrases. It’s the most painfully cringey video we’ve seen since the Gerblin Lemon CakeTikTok. We really can’t blame showrunner Lorne Michaels for the ensuing banishment. Judging by these Twitter reactions, we are united in our passionate disapproval.
