Where else can you buy designer pieces at a 90% discount and gourmet jelly beans at the same time?
There is just something about TJ Maxx that appeals to the deranged shopaholic in all of us. It’s like they took a classier, more upmarket department store, threw it in a blender, and started applying random price tags on everything. While people like to rag on the no-name designer brands and bizarre, borderline unsellable nonsense that is often found on its sprawling shop floors, it still remains a place to secure an enviable bargain if you have the time and dedication to sift through the rails.
If anything, it is pretty admirable that TJ Maxx remains a titan of in-person shopping when so many of our retail desires are technically just a few taps away. It tells us to put down our phones and really get immersed in the strip lighting, hordes of people, and random organization. It may be overstimulating in excess, but there is also something kind of exhilarating about it as well. Anybody who has hidden a coveted purchase to come back for when they are finished shopping will know about that particular thrill.
Even those who dare not set foot in this suburban stay-at-home mom paradise have to admit that it has made an impact on shopping culture as we know it. The experience is more than worth documenting with a few dumb memes, if only to psych yourself up for your next trip into the depths of all the potential bargains.
