Any committed fan of The Lord of the Rings can probably give a thousand different reasons as to why it is one of the greatest cultural products of all time. 

From the epic storyline to the unparalleled detail of the worldbuilding, to a wide range of characters with all their different eccentricities, those who love all things Middle-earth are spoilt for choice when arguing their case to those who are ignorant of LOTR. Perhaps one of the most convincing arguments, however, is how every single part of the story conspires to give us a thoroughly wholesome experience that makes an important point about the power of strong relationships. It is nice to have a reminder of that which also happens to be a fine and enjoyable work of art.
