There are plenty of things that are commendable about The Lord of the Rings, from its elite storytelling and worldbuilding to the fantastic legacy it has built over numerous decades. Perhaps one of its greatest assets, though, is the sheer wholesomeness that it encourages. Much of it is a homage to the power of friendship, and this spills out even into all of the silly internet humor that it inspires. 

How a fandom acts is a big part of how a franchise is more widely received. It has to be said that most of the fans of Middle-earth seem like pretty good people, thanks to their cheeky sense of humor. It is because of this that even casual Tolkien enthusiasts can get drawn into the wonderful world of LOTR memes, which build on the lore effortlessly and only improve on the many rewatches and rereads that this fine series deserves.
