Is there any greater fandom than the one surrounding The Lord of the Rings?
If the quality of the content is any indication of the dedication of the fans, it is easy to argue that there isn’t. Multiple books, movies, and TV series later, all things Tolkien-inspired remain some of the most impactful cultural products in the world as we know it. Much like the relationship between the One Ring and the ring-bearer, the fandom just cannot get enough of it.
In all seriousness, the particular magic that emanates from The Lord of the Rings is something that other fantasy series can find hard to replicate, try as they might. Nobody has the command of creating an alternate universe, languages, and a multi-part storyline quite like Tolkien managed to, and that is a big part of the reason that his work has endured for so long. There is plenty to get out of it when you know where to look.
Of course, it also helps that the fandom is so dedicated to enjoying every last drop of everything to do with LOTR. This can be seen not only in the numerous spinoffs that the series continues to inspire, but also in the thriving ecosystem of memes that have been an essential niche in internet culture for countless years. These days, it is hard to imagine the impact of Tolkien without them, so great is their influence. It is proof of a classic work of art that it can stand up to so many examples of silly humor.
