Gather round, Tolkien-heads, it’s that time of the week again; the one where we take a gander at which obscure parts of the franchise the most dedicated Lord of the Rings fans have managed to turn into memes. It has to be said, they are blessed with some unbelievably rich source material so we probably shouldn’t take it as a surprise that they keep on turning out the humor week after week. The LOTR trilogy (plus The Hobbit and, heck, maybe even The Silmarillion) is perhaps the defining series of the fantasy genre in the mainstream, so we have to expect that all the memes about it would have some decent reach. If the measure of a good story is its memeability, all the content that is inspired by Middle-earth is a resounding testament of quality.
