J. R. R. Tolkien was a famous stickler for detail. Open any of the books in his most famous series, and you’ll find detailed maps, extensive poetry, and whole made up languages. It’s no wonder that the whole thing proved irresistible material for one of the most iconic movie series of all time.

Truly, there are few fandoms (especially in the fantasy realm) that have as rich a lore to tackle as Lord of the Rings fans do. It’s got to be at least part of the reason why it keeps on inspiring countless funny memes. 

It would take something huge for Tolkien-heads to stop memeing forever, and it hasn’t happened yet.
