Learning to go on vacation with your parents as an adult is one of those rites of passage that can either go amazingly or end up completely messing with your relationship as you know it. Gone are the days when taking you on holiday meant everything revolves around the kid-friendly option unless you happen to have kids yourself, but there is still the tricky balancing act of making sure everybody gets what they want out of the experience.
What can make the issue even more prickly is if your family members are footing the bill for you. Most vacations are a reasonable expense and that has to be acknowledged even if you aren’t paying for it. It means that there are certain rules when it comes to accepting that generosity.
