This move allows the bishop to swiftly eliminate multiple threats in one turn. And then of course there’s the fabled ‘le char confus.’ The rook moves in a zigzag pattern, randomly changing direction after each square. The unpredictable nature of such a move can often catch an opponent off guard. Rarest of all is the ‘quantum pawn.’ The pawn exists in a superposition of states, allowing it to simultaneously move forward one or two squares until it is observed by the opponent. Once observed, it collapses into a single forward move. It’s a pretty good one to keep in your back pocket.
