Have you ever dreamed about becoming a filmmaker yourself? 

For all of us who love cinema, the process of making a movie sounds like a fascinating thing. We usually stand on the opposite side of the screen, watching, judging, taking notes of all the things we liked and all the things we didn’t, but we rarely have the opportunity to experience the real process. I bet we would be less critical if we had to do it all by ourselves. 

At some point, most of us want to join the filmmaking world, whether as actors, producers, directors, screenwriters, or even an assistant whose only job is to take everybody else’s coffee orders. We just want to be inside the world we love so much. 

Just imagine it: us walking on the red carpet, about to present our newest movie at the Cannes festival. Yes, there’s a lot of glamour in this world, but also a lot of obstacles to overcome. Getting the financing for a big project is the first one. If you don’t have the money to do it yourself, you have to convince some rich people that your vision is worth the trouble and that it will work. If you’re an actor, you’ll go to hundreds of auditions, and nine out of ten times, the answer will be «No.» Yet, you keep going and presenting yourself to every audition you can, with the hope of getting your first role and escalating from there. It takes some serious passion for this art to be willing to go through all that without getting your heart broken. 

Filmmaking is a complicated art and a beautiful thing. Telling stories that make people fall in love, laugh, and cry, all through lighting, music, and dialogue is a talent not all filmmakers get to develop in a lifetime.
