Wily British Man Steals Neighbor’s Mushrooms, Exposes The Absurdity Of Village Life

If a casual browse of Nextdoor is anything to go by, few people are more petty than your average middle class homeowner. There’s something about having a mortgage and a piece of lawn to call your own that seems to encourage a frivolous attitude, no matter whether you live in the US or the UK.

It’s an issue which @mikemillar has recently brought to the attention of Twitter, after going viral with a post from an English village Facebook group. In it, a resident calls out a man for trespassing and taking some mushrooms growing under a tree in their unfenced yard.

People were immediately taken by the anonymous individual and his «unrepentant» response to the homeowner speaking to him. It also led to other Twitter users providing some amusing stories of their own when it came to the strange social media happenings of UK village life. It looks like the British countryside isn’t all rolling hills, AGAs, and sheep. It offers up plenty of trivial drama about fungi and access rights, too.
