It takes a special type of entitlement to fly around the world, land in a new country, and complain that it’s nothing like your home country here. Weirdly enough, I think a lot of people travel with the expectation that they’ll have the comforts of home lined up for them. Newsflash, inexperienced travelers, half of the point of going somewhere new is to go somewhere new. Crazy, I know.
However, this French woman had no interest in anything that wasn’t French.
After years of talking about visiting her dear ol’ childhood friend, she finally decided to branch out and set foot on a plane bound for the other side of the world. Yet, upon crossing the Atlantic, she clearly immediately regretted ever leaving her comfort zone, because she spent every waking moment complaining about bread quality, the lack of cheese, and the heavy local foods of her gracious host: Her friend’s wife.
When her hospitality meter finally ran out, the wife snapped, calling out her husband’s friend’s entitlement and clear lack of gratefulness. Next time she visits, I think she’ll be staying in the French Quarter, eating familiar cuisine, and missing out on all the joys and mysteries of travel. Apparently, not everyone is built for it.
