Woman Expected to Babysit Brother’s Friends’ Children for Free While On Group Vacation, Stands Her Ground Despite Raging Entitlement

If your family member offers to pay for your vacation in exchange for a few nights of babysitting their children, you take them up on that offer. What’s a day of watching your nieces and nephews if you get to live it up on vacay for the remainder of your time there? That’s right. Absolutely nothing. When your family member’s friends start asking for some free nannying, you draw the line. Last time you checked, they didn’t pay for your vacation. Your family member did. It might get a little uncomfortable when you have to repeatedly tell entitled parents «NO», but standing your ground is a must if you’re expected to go above and beyond for people who you don’t even consider friends.

The young woman in this story dealt with this exact scenario. Her brother offered to pay for her vacation if she agreed to watch his kids a few times throughout the week, and she took him up on that offer. It’s a pretty sweet deal. Throughout the vacation, however, her brother’s friends began asking her to watch their kids, too. What’s one more kid? Two more! Maybe three! Yeah, no. She is technically getting paid for her babysitting duties by her brother, but his friends haven’t given her anything. The thing is, when you sense entitlement, it makes you want to refuse someone even more. Despite being vilified for refusing to turn into a full-blown daycare, the woman stood her ground.

Entitlement is a sickness, and these folks better get well soon. Scroll to read the entire story.
