Even at the best of times, pregnancy is a difficult thing to go through. Even if it’s to be expected, enduring the most radical bodily changes you’ve ever experienced is bad enough. Receiving a blast from the past at the same time, however, takes it to a whole new level.

This was the case for Maddy Cifelli, otherwise known as @madi_lane_.  When in the labor and delivery room in her hospital, she came to realize that behind the curtain next to her an ex boyfriend and his wife were also present.

While the previous relationship had fizzled out in high school, it was still an awkward situation to be in — although judging by the comments on her video, it also wasn’t a particularly uncommon one. Many viewers came to share similarly embarrassing stories of running into exes on the maternity ward, and even having their relatives help deliver their baby. As if birth wasn’t stressful enough, it seems like everyone also has social niceties to worry about.
