Call us crazy, but Walmart isn’t our first choice when it comes to buying groceries. Even the stingey chain should know better than to keep expired or spoiled goods on shelves, but apparently that is too much to ask of the Walmart in Valley Stream, New York. The Long Island chain was called out by TikToker @p.e.a.c.e.s4u after she realized they were selling «poof chicken» – her special way of referring to chicken packages that are bloated from bacteria growth caused by lack of refrigeration. The nickname is a lot cuter than the consequences of eating the chicken, which could be as serious as death.
In the video, our hero specifically calls out «Team leader Deanna» for saying that it’s perfectly fine to keep the chicken on display. And in a follow up video, she seems to have stood by her opinion. The poof chicken is still there, four days after the viral video was first shared. A few things can be garnered from this situation – 1) You probably shouldn’t be grocery shopping at Walmart when you live in an area as populous as Valley Stream, and 2) Walmart should be training its team leaders a little better so that they don’t end up bearing the responsibility of sick or dead clientele.
