‘Would you be the yolk to my white?’: 17 Egg Memes

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs. That’s what gym rats are eating all the time.

It seems like everyone is obsessed with protein these days. Everything now has 15 grams of protein; it doesn’t matter whether it is ice cream, yogurt, or a birthday cake. Everything will have protein on it. It’s funny that the people obsessed with all this protein intake sometimes forget that the food that has what they are looking for, is organic, and not expensive, is, in fact, eggs. A big egg can contain around 7 grams of protein, so eating 2 eggs would have around the same amount of protein as one of those power bars with extra protein. So why do people buy the bar but don’t eat the two eggs? I don’t have an answer for that; it is a serious question. You can boil two eggs in ten minutes and have a healthier protein intake than any other product sold as «the protein bar» would ever have. Also, eggs are delicious, and I will not accept any argument against them. There are hundreds of variables depending on how you cook them, which makes them a completely different food. How can you choose not to eat them?

This obsession with protein seems to come from people who are trying to be healthy and comply with their gym goals, which is great. But some doctors are concerned about how everyone is so focused on protein that they forget that it is not the only important thing. Eating fiber, carbohydrates, and even fats is important. A good habit of eating is not overeating protein; it is having a balanced meal with a bit of everything, yes, EVEN FATS! People sometimes are afraid of some foods, and that is the worst thing you can do. You shouldn’t be afraid of what you eat; if it’s food, then you can eat it, just don’t overeat some foods. But to completely avoid a group of meals just because it may get you a little overweight is too much. Just be moderate in the amount and be aware of what your particular body needs. That will be enough to maintain a healthy diet without being a slave to meals and having that obsession that you can’t eat anything else.

Sometimes eating protein is necessary, but to be obsessed with it will never be okay. Eat what you want, but keep in mind the amount that you are eating. You can eat chocolate, but maybe not a kilogram every meal. A healthy diet is not something only achievable by insane diets and restrictions. Simple moderation and healthy habits like exercise and drinking enough water are enough to keep you healthy. I’m not a doctor, so I can’t tell you what to eat, but I can tell you not to get obsessed with every single item you ingest, as that is the contrary of healthy. It’s just craziness and problematic. Being healthy is the goal, but not your only purpose in life; there’s so much more to do.
