To wish somebody a ‘cheesy day’ is better than a good day. A good day can mean very different things to different people, but cheese is liked by everyone.
Cheese is probably the food that most people like in the world, but what is curious about it is that the people who like it love it, but the ones who don’t like it hate it as if it were the worst thing they have ever tried. People who don’t like cheese can’t be normal about it; they have to be disgusted by it. They can’t smell it, taste it, or even have it mixed up in their food. They notice it and immediately make a big deal out of it. My dad hates cheese, and he can’t even be near people if they are eating cheese. He has gotten better over the years; he won’t touch cheese, not even with a five-foot pole, but he can’t be by my side while I eat it. I will call that progress, and who knows, maybe in 20 years I can get him to eat a jam and cheese sandwich.
I really, really love cheese, but I don’t know much about it. That’s why I did some research and came up with 3 very impressive fun facts about this food that will make you like it even more, or maybe hate it even more if you’re one of those… Did you know that we don’t really know when cheese started to be a thing? We can’t fully place it on a specific date from its beginning, but we do know that studies have placed it far back at 6000 B.C. So we can imagine a tribe eating cheese at that age. Isn’t it amazing?
Another fun fact about cheese is that cheese is not particularly bad for one’s health. Of course, you cannot live only off cheese, but if you eat it in moderate quantities, it is a good source of protein, calcium, and phosphorus. So next time someone says to you, «It’s not healthy to eat that much cheese», you have an awesome response to say back! Cheese is so delicious that it would be a crime for it to be unhealthy; it’s like chocolate, it needs to have some good health benefits for us not to feel bad about eating it. Finally, the last fun fact is that, according to The Harvard Gazette, the average American eats 41.8 pounds of cheese per year, which is much more than people in European countries or Latin America. So hey, U.S. citizens do love their cheese!
So hey, you may have always loved your cheese, but did you always know so much about it? I don’t think so. So, now you can spread more than cheddar on your hamburger; you can also spread cheese knowledge onto other cheesy fans like you and me. After all, it’s important to know our food, especially if we eat it as regularly as we eat cheese, don’t you think?
