Would you renovate your own home?
A couple of days ago, I started thinking of making some changes to my home. Renovate those things I’ve been putting off from the moment I first moved in, so my place can finally start having the look I want for it. Integrate some fantastic TikTok ideas that show up on my phone when I am trying to avoid work. Only one problem: renovations can be quite pricey. I mean, not a problem because I am my father’s daughter and I refuse to pay expensive work when I can do it myself. I mean, how hard could it be? A couple gallons of paint, maybe a box of nails and a new hammer. Nothing some free time over the weekend can’t fix. Well, at least those were my initial thoughts. I thought I was very capable because I hung some paintings by myself once, but boy, I was wrong. What was I even thinking?
I turned to the internet for some well-needed inspiration. Experiences from the DIY people of the virtual world that could encourage me to become one of them myself. But what I found was quite the opposite of «encouraging». I was clearly wrong when I thought it was going to be easy. I still think I can do it myself, but after years of training or maybe a degree. I blame Instagram and Pinterest for making it look so easy, hiding the fact that it could go so terribly wrong.
This collection of interior design fails is exactly what you needed to start working on your next renovation. First step on the to-do list: hire a professional who actually knows what they’re doing. After seeing these pictures, I can confirm mothers of the world are, in fact, right when they say that cheap things end up having a higher cost. Now, I might not be able to afford my home renovation quite yet, but I can definitely laugh at the unhinged attempts of other people. Thought, I do have to admit some of these are hidden jewels of brilliance.
