Online reviews are an unsung hero of creative writing.
It turns out that nothing inspires people like giving their opinions on the products they buy, and giving us a small insight into their lives and personalities at the same time.
Entire short stories are told in the review sections of every single e-commerce website, but none more so than the most famous one in the entire world. Amazon is the store where we can buy almost anything, and as a result, it has a truly diverse span of customers who have a lot of opinions on the stuff that they buy. It is always a wise idea to read the reviews before buying something online so that you don’t get duped, but quite often, that comes with a side order of entertainment as well.
Perhaps the most compelling thing about reviews is that they satisfy our nosiness (and occasionally tell us a few things that we could have done without knowing). They show us that we never truly know what is going on at other people’s houses, as well as offering the reminder that we are all kind of weird and/or prone to online shopping-related mishaps at the end of the day.
However, it takes a special kind of person to unleash their inner keyboard warrior and give us the lowdown on their most and least favorite products. When they do, we all learn something from the experience, even if what we learn is simply that there are a lot of odd customers out there.
