Do you love nerd humor? Then you must love The Big Bang Theory. Now that the trailer for the show’s spinoff series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, has come out, it is a perfect time to remember the original show’s memes that made us burst with laughter. 

Throughout twelve seasons, Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny made us fall in love with them and all their friends.  A friendship between a struggling actress, a theoretical physicist, and an experimental physicist was an exceptional comedy. The dynamics made sense: the science nerds stuck together, and bombshell Penny made it all the more interesting. 

It’s not only a sitcom but also a story about friends facing obstacles together and growing as human beings, especially for Sheldon. (Spoiler alert!) He starts out as basically a human robot and ends up married to the love of his life and with all of his best friends having his back. His development is one of the best character arcs ever in a sitcom. Although his jumping out of the plastic ball pool and yelling «Bazinga!» is a moment that will live forever in my mind rent-free. Suffice it to say that most of that development comes thanks to Penny, who became an older sister and a bit of a caregiver to him. 

It’s also a show that gives us a pretty decent range when talking about different female characters. Maybe not a first, but the more you watch, the closer Amy and Bernadette become to Penny, and the three of them turn into a lovely group of different women supporting each other and hyping up one another. Seeing them being supportive and helpful to each other is an excellent representation of a healthy friendship among women. Sometimes they have their rough patches, but eventually they come together again to make amends, and that’s a recipe for sitcom gold. 

Other than wholesome storylines (and a few really weird ones, I’m looking at you, Howard and Raj), The Big Bang Theory also gave us memes by the dozen!
