Did you know that the concept of a space western exists? 

The Mandalorian is exactly what you think it is: a space western show. As if the Star Wars universe wasn’t big enough with all that canon-not-canon thing, they gave us a show about a space bounty hunter with beskar-rock-solid armor who goes around carrying a fifty-year-old alien child. That is a sentence I never thought I would say, and a combination of things I never imagined could work as well as it does. Because, yeah, it definitely works.

Beyond the relationship between Mando and Grogu (or, baby Yoda, for the real fans), which is beautiful in and of itself, we also get a thick and complicated plot. It’s not so much about the action and explosions, as we would expect from an adventure show, but more about Mando’s internal conflicts and the state of a society in the middle of a complex political transition. At first glance, it would seem like the show advances slowly. But if you take a closer look, you will see all the struggles of a world rebuilding itself after decades of oppression. It’s a little gloomy to say it like that, but that’s part of the series’ charm and what makes it so interesting. 

We could go on for hours analyzing the plot, the world building, the character building, the music, and my personal favorite, the costume design. There’s so much work behind shows like this, and it’s no wonder they have quite a big budget to maneuver. The Mandalorian is almost single-handedly keeping Star Wars fans from tearing down Disney Studios’ doors, but that’s a different looong story to get into. We’ll leave it for some other time. 

Right now, all that we’re focusing on is the absolutely adorable memes this show is providing us with. I also wish that I could have a flying jetpack. If we have a character as cute and lovely as Baby Yoda, and another as swoonable as Mando, it only makes sense that we’re getting the best memes! As the Mandalorians would say: «This is the way» to LOL.
