Sci fi heroes are always being asked to sacrifice something for the sake of the greater good. Maybe it’s even their life. They’ve been thrust into a position they may or may not have asked for, and now they have this great duty to save the planet or whatever. I think about this with Paul Atreides. He was just going about his business and suddenly he might be the Lisan Al Gaib. 

That has to be pretty crazy. Imagine if you went in to work one day and they suddenly said, «You’re the chosen one of this paper company. You have to personally fight the CEOs of all the other paper companies so that we can be the best one. And you’re probably not getting a promotion or a raise, since this is your destiny.» You might be pretty upset. You might quit and fire up LinkedIn so you can look for other jobs.
