Waiting in line is not one of our favorite things to do as humans and yet we do it all the time. Especially if you live in a big city. People will wait in line for anything in a big city. A slice of pizza that is only marginally better than the one on your block. A collaboration between two brands you don’t really care about but somehow are intrigued by the combination. The chance to spend money on something you definitely don’t need. Waiting in line is all about hype, and we love hype.
There is something to be said about delayed gratification, and how waiting for something sometimes makes it better. But you have to choose your battles when it comes to this. Ice cream on a hot summer day? Probably worth waiting for. The chance to take a photo at a tourist spot? Probably not. But everyone has different things they’d rather wait for.
