Midwesterners know how to do Halloween right. We know how to ruin a child’s costume with a mandatory puffy coat because it’s that time of year. We know about buying the king-sized candies and keeping them reserved for only your most trusted neighbors. We know about hayrides and haunted houses and bows of candy with a mechanical zombie hand attached. Ever walk around a Midwestern neighborhood in October? You know exactly how hard we go off. We will erect a 9-foot skeleton, and we will have no regrets about it. It’s just the way of the Midwesterner. 

If you ask me, it’s peak time to be a Midwesterner. The weather is crisp, and the leaves are turning a bunch of different magical colors. The long winter hasn’t settled in yet, and there is candy on every doorstep. We’d better enjoy it while it lasts because it won’t last forever.
