Who needs meat when you’ve got swag?
Some of the swaggiest people I know are plant-based. Coincidence? I think not. If you’re a person who doesn’t eat meat, then you probably have to think about your food intake day to day, and maybe it makes you a little more mindful. You’re creative with your meals, and you know how to make things work in a pinch. Maybe this is what makes us so swagged out. We have to constantly innovate and excite in order to make our meals worthwhile. There is also a sense of community in these kinds of dietary restrictions, because you know what each other are going through. You know what it’s like to pull up to a restaurant and there’s only one thing on the menu that you can eat (and guess what, you’re not in the mood for it). When you go to their house, you know they’ll have a plethora of amazing snacks that you’re excited to chow down on. You trade recipes and love hosting dinner parties together. This is the joy of experiencing dietary restrictions together. We’re okay on our own, but stronger when we combine forces. And memes are the perfect way to get together. Memes are wonderful social organizing tools. They take a disparate, disconnected community and put them together to make them whole. Memes make us all remember why we have each other.
