My favorite movie is all about farts. No, it’s not Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, or Shrek Forever After. It’s actually a VERY serious A24 film, thank you very much. I’m just kidding; it’s probably the most unserious thing A24 had done before they blew the roof off with D*cks: The Musical.

Swiss Army Man follows a man trapped on a desert island who befriends and ultimately relies on a flatulent corpse for his survival. The corpse, played by none other than Daniel Radcliffe, has this line that has always struck me as pretty profound. 

«If my best friend keeps his farts from me, what else is he hiding from me, and why does that thought make me feel so alone?»

Farts are a natural part of life, and the fact that we are so hellbent on hiding them shows how terrified we are of deviating from any longstanding social norm. If you fart around your besties because you love and trust them, I encourage you to take a gander at some fart memes.
