Let’s be honest, if Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs were created today, consuming memes/brainrot/general internet slop would have to be on there somewhere, at least for many people. We have developed such a dependency on these little screens that being without them for even the shortest periods of time can cause unrest and irritability. Where is our entertainment on tap without the important contribution made by our phones, and perhaps more importantly, the internet that we access on them?
Thankfully, it can be assumed that if you are reading this, that is not an issue for you. You can readily fulfil that need for mindless distraction simply by scrolling a little further, and when that is over and done with, you can choose to do it again if you want. No matter what might be happening in the outside world, you can enjoy the moment by temporarily getting lost in these memes.
