Stop and smell the memes. 

Flowers can go a long way. If you’ve ever received a bouquet of them from somebody you love, then you know this to be true. It’s a beautiful, tasteful, and generous gesture. It makes you feel like the most special girl in the world, even on an average Tuesday. But part of the beauty of flowers is that they don’t last forever. They teach you about the impermanence of life, and make you confront its rueful nature. As soon as you get them, they start to wilt. They only contain their beauty for so long, and then they start to shed their petals. But there is a beauty in this, too. The beauty of the ephemeral. That is part of the gesture of flowers. They show you that you deserve nice things, even if they are not going to last forever. You still deserve beauty, even if it all fades eventually. There’s a beautiful poetry in this metaphor. They light up your life for a time, but they don’t promise to do it forever. Nothing in life lasts forever.
