The baby won’t even remember if his uncle was at his first birthday!
Parents do a lot of things for their kids that are really for themselves. If a woman got made fun of for having bushy eyebrows when she was a little girl, she might start waxing her daughter’s eyebrows before she reaches kindergarten. Her daughter did not come up with the idea of getting her eyebrows waxed. It wasn’t even an insecurity for her! But because her mom was insecure about it, she projected that need for grooming onto her daughter to make herself feel more secure about her emotional well-being. It’s not right, but it happens all the time!
Celebrations in the first year of a baby’s life are obviously for the parents and not the baby. A child’s first Christmas or Birthday is incredibly special for parents, especially with their first kid. A baby obviously does not know Christmas from March 24th, but there’s no harm in celebrating a baby’s first Christmas as if it were the most important day of their short life. Parents are a part of a family too, and they deserve the fun and festivities that come with having a young family.
