Neopets was all the rage in the early 2000’s, but after the great crash of 2015, and as folks aged out of the web-version of a Tamagachi, the Neopet metaverse fizzled out. Since then, there has been a revival of the site and a huge surge in new users and kiddos are once again stealing free food from the Great Omelette and playing Turmac Roll to gain Neopoints. As always, it takes time and patience to build wealth and earn rare items, and patience is something in short supply with today’s youngens, especially if they’re spoiled. One family used their daughter’s illness as an excuse to spoil her heavily and attempted to acquire her aunt’s 18 year old Neopets account by force.
As everyone knows, an 18 year old account is a rare sight in itself. Not only had OP, the aunt, been playing Neopets since the dawn of the game, but she had earned countless rare items and tons of Neopoints. After sharing her interest with Neopets with her sick niece, the little girl cried to her parents about how her infantile account wasn’t as good as dear ol’ auntie’s– so the brother in law decided to try and steal it off of her.
Using bullying tactics, the BIL cornered OP and tried to guilt her into giving away her priceless account, but she adamantly refused, feeling responsible for the deflated spirits of her young niece. Scroll for the full, detailed account of this guilt-tripping story.
