Regrettably, my TikTok algorithm has decided over the last couple of months that it wants to recommend dating advice content and despite my usual ambivalence to all things romance, I have actually watched quite a lot of it. The message almost always boils down to the same things: know your worth, don’t suffer bad behavior for longer than you have to, and yes, the dating apps are getting even worse than they used to be. 

Still, you find people in the comments acting like these conclusions are a revelation and complaining that a lot of the time, these sage words just make you somehow end up even more single than you were before. Unless you get incredibly lucky in love, the likelihood is finding a committed partner you enjoy is going to take a lot of trial and error. At least in the meantime, you get to relate to entertaining dating memes. You’ve got to have something to cheer you up the next time you get ghosted.
