Dogs are inherently funny. They just have the «it» factor when it comes to making me laugh. It doesn’t take much. When they tilt their heads to the side, I can’t help but giggle. When they stick their tongues out when they yawn, I can’t help but guffaw. When they chase their own tails, c’mon, that’s just pure comedy. So it’s no wonder we’re always putting them in memes. 

There are so many famous memes with dogs in them. Sure, cats are the original meme animal (see: the origins of this website) but dogs have always been there too in lockstep. Think about the black lab with the confused face. Or think about all the memes that have been made out of corgis. Or heaven forbid I mention doge. I think we’ll skip over that one actually. The point is, that dogs have been meme fodder for as long as there have been memes.
