Isn’t the point of a gift to make someone else happy? 

Selfishly, this young woman wanted her extremely generous gift to her mom to be the center of attention for at least 24 hours, but after gifting her a mother-daughter getaway on a cruise liner, the mom got so excited that she bought tickets for the whole family. 

It was her first cruise, and the daughter wanted things to be special, but because the mom was so enthusiastic about her new shiny toy, she wanted to share it with everyone. And is that so bad? Well, the daughter felt extremely snubbed by the entire affair, dashing to the internet for answers. In my mind, it’s clear that the mom is just happy to share her happiness with everyone. Could this have been handled more tactfully by all parties? Probably. But perhaps they can have a heart-to-heart family meeting at the cruise buffet.
