Hear me out: I know the whole ‘girl math’ trend is kind of an excuse to treat us, women, as financially irresponsible, but I really think we could put it to better use. Everyone likes to treat themselves once in a while, and I actually know more men who spend money like there’s no tomorrow than women with that mindset. So, instead of treating girls like they don’t know how to use their own money, I propose we think about it in a different way: like we’re smart enough to get the things we want without having to spend our entire salary on a single purchase. We look for better prices, sales, and better deals out there. We are experts at tricking the system and saving our money for important things. Because buying a nice little trinket every now and then is not opposed to having a financial safety net with all our savings. We’re always ready for anything they throw our way, and that’s what girl math actually is: knowing how, when, and how much of our money we can spend and on what. We have everything under control.
