Legend of Zelda: 18 Ocarina of Time Memes To Celebrate the Game is Back

November will be the month to celebrate The Legend of Zelda’s COMEBACK

The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its fortieth anniversary by bringing our beloved adventure back with new life, and I think they did it wonderfully!

The big 2026 comeback is of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, an iconic version of the game that used to be on the Nintendo 64. Does anyone still have the console from when they were a child?

Originally released in 1998, the game is almost as old as I am (I was born in 1997), but as it was so loved by its community, it was played well into the 2000s. The new version involves puzzle-solving, a new three-dimensional version of Hyrule, and combat, all the things players like us liked most.

2026 version was created for the Nintendo Switch 2, and I know a few of us who don’t even have the console are thinking about getting it just to revive this beautiful, nostalgic sensation.

And here is the best part: the new version lets players hum melodies into the console’s built-in microphone, and Link responds by playing them on his ocarina. I’m already thinking about the video compilations I will upload here of Link playing the most ridiculous songs on his cute little ocarina. So for those who already have a Nintendo Switch 2, start thinking about what you will force Link to play, and please upload it online. Do it for CheeZburguer.

And now to the most important part: the most beloved companion, heart of the saga, beautiful angel, EPONA. She represents one of the game’s most important milestones, the moment Link starts exploring Hyrule on his own terms.

He wins Epona’s freedom by learning a song- how poetic is that?

While I was further investigating her origins, I learnt she takes her name from an actual Celtic-Gaulish goddess related to horses, donkeys, and fertility. I guess the game developers really managed to communicate that without explicitly saying it, because she really generated so much devotion across generations.

Music lovers from all corners of the world have long loved the game for its relationship to melodies, and continue to sample the iconic Ocarine into their songs, and today, with the game’s revival, I hope that tradition evolves further.

So whether you’ve already played it, or you’re about to go buy a Nintendo Switch 2, here is your Legend of Zelda meme list for a musical laugh!
