There’s nothing like a freshly picked piece of fruit. We’re finally, slowly entering peak fruit season and I couldn’t be happier. Stonefruit in the summer is a peak experience that most of us pine for every other time of the year. A ripe watermelon in the heat of July… can’t be beat. A blueberry pie sitting on a windowsill for everyone to smell, now that’s the American Dream. I don’t care what they tell you it is. And all of this goodness boils down to how fresh it is. If you have a bad piece of fruit, forget about it. No, it needs to be picked at the peak of its seasonality, just as it’s getting good.
