Oh, memes. They don’t really ask us for much. Somebody could have spent hours on Photoshop crafting the perfect image, or haphazardly slapped something together with their phone’s editing software, and we’d still treat them with the same few seconds of mild interest and amusement. If they’re really lucky, maybe we’ll be so tickled that they get sent to one of our friends. If they bomb, they slide into irrelevance faster than it takes us to look them over, living in the hope that they will get rehashed somehow at some point in a distant future. Just as memes come in all shapes and sizes, the ways in which we react to them and create their legacy are almost as diverse. The popularity contest is almost as random as the content, up to a point. All the memes in this list are subject to the whims of our own personal taste, so who knows where they’ll end up. At least somebody out there is seeing them.
