Food is one of the simplest yet most widely enjoyed pleasures in life.

It is one of the main things that keeps us going, both literally and figuratively, when the going gets tough, and it is the centerpiece of many of our social events. There are thousands of different meals that people from all times and places have created, and many of them have succeeded in giving sustenance and enjoyment to billions. 

Most of us are not inclined to see every time we eat as a true event, and with good reason. Life gets busy, and not every single lunch break can be a ceremonial banquet. Still, it is good to cultivate a healthy appreciation of the sheer amount of effort that has gone into making food what it is now and then. That is the very reason that we do not have to overthink it all the time.

While it can be enjoyable, it is easy to see the need to cook for ourselves and our loved ones as a chore. When you take into account the grocery shopping, meal planning, and dishes on top of the time in the kitchen, it can easily swallow up a big chunk of our so-called free time. It helps to have some motivation to cook, which we could argue is done through humor.
