I don’t particularly miss school lunch. Okay maybe I miss not having to prepare my own lunch, or even think about what I wanted to eat that day, but I don’t miss the food served up by the school. Pizza that tastes more like cardboard than it does pizza, meat that could have come from any animal, a mound of peas that you would inevitably scoop directly into the trash can. It left a lot to be desired, to say the least. I didn’t know a vegetable could actually taste good until I went to college.
But there’s also a level of camaraderie that comes from sharing the same gross food with your classmates, and it also is one of your only «free» moments in the day. The memories made in the cafeteria are memories that will last a lifetime. This includes the excellent folks who served your lunch every day.
