I know that most of us enjoy decrying social media as the downfall of humanity from time to time, but I don’t think we should lose sight of its upsides. TikTok is a perfect example of this mixed offering. On the one hand, it is taking a sledgehammer to our already fragile attention spans and encouraging all the proto-iPad kids to believe blatant disinformation at a rate that is only matched by the terminally online Facebook boomers. On the other hand, it has been great in expanding the frontier of relatable internet humor and creativity.

While the clock app will never be free of all its haters, even many of these have to admit that it occasionally produces funny content.
