“Big Cup Theory” Converts Twitter As The Best Way To Drink Water

There are plenty of things out there that we think that we need in life, but there are only very few non-negotiables for survival. We need food, shelter, clean air to breathe and of course, a fresh supply of water

Whether you’re the proud owner of a Hydro Flask collection, or your mouth puckers up at the thought of allowing any non-sweetened liquid to pass your lips, there’s no denying that the human race is as embarrassingly reliant on the blessed refreshment of H2O as it is that pesky oxygen. We’ve got to get it into our bodies on a daily basis somehow.

Considering the necessity of it all, it’s no wonder that some of us have formed some very strongly held opinions when it comes to hydration. We try to figure out how much we can get from food as opposed to drinking it straight up; we express our preferences for tap water or bottled water. Speaking of the tap, people have full blown arguments over which countries or states are home to the best and worst water supplies. Finally, once a source has been settled on, you’ve got to figure out how you want to get it into your body.

You might think that this is the easy part, but more thought can go into it than you might think. This has been shown in a hypothesis proposed by @DaveMcNamee3000, which presents the best way to hydrate ourselves in a very clear cut way. In a now-viral Twitter thread, he made the case for the ultimate method of drinking water to be when it is taken from a large cup

This can’t just be any kind of big receptacle, either; there are certain qualities that it has to adhere to. The best types of Big Cup were never bought with the specific purpose of kitchenware in mind, but instead taken from some kind of sporting event or movie screening. Unfortunately for the environmentally conscious among us, it has to be made of a kind of plastic. The most important quality of all, though, is the sheer size of the thing — made to hold ounces upon ounces of clear, sparkling goodness.

While a minority disagreed with the idea that bigger is better, it was obvious that many others agreed with this beguiling theory. There might not be any science behind it, but the Big Cup just adds a little something extra to the hydration experience that it’s difficult to argue with. Cheers!
