Boss Punishes Mom-To-Be Engineer For Only Getting Half of Her Work Done When She Was Out on PTO for Half The Financial Quarter

She got as much work done as she could with the time she had.

When you’re going on vacation, do you do work in advance? If you’re gone for a week, do you do two weeks’ worth of work during the week leading up to your time off? I guess that depends on the type of employee you are and the workplace environment you’re in. If you know that your boss will be mad at you if you don’t do all of the work you’re expected to do, time off, or no time off, then you’re probably going to have a sigma grindset about finishing all of your work before or after your vacation, whether you want to or not. If you’re a chill person or you work in a chill workplace, you probably won’t bother with work during a time when you’re supposed to be relaxing or healing from an ailment.

Sometimes you can’t control when you take off work. Life can get in the way, and if you have a medical problem that comes up, that should take precedent over your work 100% of the time. You can’t be the best employee if you’re struggling to function on a basic level. Even if you’re just taking a vacation for personal matters, you shouldn’t have to worry about work during that time. Your company gave you that time to yourself, so they’re totally hypocritical if they expect you to put work above your sanity when you’re taking PTO.

The boss in this story is a hypocrite who does not care about women and their health.
