In the 90s, everybody was obsessed with advertising and how much it was taking over our lives. These days, primitive advertising strategies like product placement feel ancient. The 90s were so good that the only thing people had to complain about was Times Square billboards. At least, that’s what they complained about in the 1997 …

A Petri Dish of Social Media Posts
It has often been said that social media is a cesspool, and those who say that are absolutely right. Everybody’s hot takes and cold takes fester on one big petri dish of a website, whether it be Twitter or TikTok. All of these annoying opinions interact with each other in gnarly ways. I, for one, …

Memes That Give 2017 Vibes
There are days when I long for the Internet of five years ago. Everything feels so different now, and I don’t know how to feel about it. Back in 2017, memes wouldn’t just be a blip in the night, becoming popular one day and vanishing the next. Every meme had a little more staying power, …

Many Amusing Images of the Online Variety
I am so glad I grew up offline. Don’t get me wrong, I cherish and enjoy every single solitary second I spend on this sacred place we call «the internet.» However, I’m glad my uncensored access to the world wide web didn’t begin until I was 12. I still grew up during the era when …

Memes For Millennials Pushing 40
It’s easy to get used to being «the younger generation.» I’m sure that when Baby Boomers transitioned from being young hippie free thinkers to yuppie Reaganites, it felt weird to no longer be the youngest generation. People cared about disaffected Gen Xers for a brief moment in the 90s, but since then, Millennials have dominated …

Memes to Browse at Your Leisure
Have you guys ever noticed that 37 is a pervasive ‘favorite number?’ Think about it: when you’re asked to pick a number between one and ten, aren’t you privy to seven or three? I think it’s because three is halfway between one and five, and seven is halfway between five and ten. In my professional …

35+ Memes For People Who Don’t Qualify For 30 Under 30 Anymore
One of the cool things about living in New York is that some institutions will reward you for being young. This probably isn’t something exclusive to New York, but there are a lot of things to do here, and when those things are under $30, it makes it a lot easier. If you are under …

Happy-Go-Lucky Memes For Swell Kids
Last night, I watched the James Dean classic Rebel Without a Cause for the first time, and it was fantastic. I am so down for melodramas from the 1950s, and this movie fits the bill perfectly. So much modern media about teens in the 1950s has been influenced by the likes of Grease and Happy …

Amusing Tidbits and Tales From the Depths of Tumblr
Tumblr is the cockroach of mainstream social media. Every time something happens to it that we think will be the end, it fights on with a plucky enthusiasm that only something that could survive the apocalypse could muster. It’s the home of all manner of fandoms and internet weirdness, and it’s never afraid to go …
