College Student Entertainingly Parodies Money Influencers With Realistic Two Week Budget

Money is a controversial topic. It’s kind of scary and it can often seem like a lot of it is put in the wrong places, but it still makes the world go round, apparently. Managing our finances can be an intimidating job, and nobody knows that better than the money experts of TikTok. The #moneytok hashtag has over nine billion views on the platform. Many of its videos promise to teach you how to budget, with the help of an iPad app and a big old chunk of monthly income.

If this sounds like your idea of personal hell, you’re not alone. A lot of people don’t have the luxury of budgeting for salon trips and crypto investments, and don’t feel represented by financial advice that often gets put in these videos. Thankfully, @snailculture decided to dispel that attitude with a budget video of her own, proving that you can have it all even when the purse strings are tight.

Working with a tutoring pay check of a little over $71 and a $5 Venmo, her video proceeds to map out her spending for the next two weeks that includes all the essentials. Many viewers celebrated her more realistic take on budgeting, but not everyone was convinced by the things she prioritized her money on. However, she picks up on one thing that all college graduates can relate to: just ignore the student loan.
