Parents buy their kid a property worth hundreds of thousands, attach conditions to it, and are now surprised that those conditions are causing problems. 

The kid received a free apartment at 17, has been living in it, and is now considering cutting off their parents over a dispute about a gift that most people will never receive in their lifetime. Both sides have a point. Both sides are also being insufferable about it.
