The domesticated cat is a species that is full of contradictions. Their bodies are technically solid, and yet seem to perform feats that only a liquid can; they (sometimes) love nothing more than our attention and affection, but they also hold us in disdain. On top of that, they are often so proud that being made fun of is a great embarrassment to them, yet they are probably the animal that has had the most influence on internet memes as we know them. 

Cat memes have powered humor on the internet for decades now, and they are showing no signs of losing their mainstream appeal. While they are obviously going to be most beloved by cat lovers, there is something in them for pretty much everyone who enjoys a meme now and then.
